Q: How do I place an order?
A: The first step is to have an idea of what you want. Use our cake serving guide and to get a general idea of how much your cake will cost. The most important thing is to have a budget in mind before placing your order. Please read our order policy page. Reservations are not confirmed until we receive a deposit on your order.
Q: How far in advance do I need to place my order?
A: Our calendar fills up pretty quick! Therefore, we suggest that you place your order well in advance. Orders are filled on a first paid, first served basis. We do our best to accommodate all request. We do have minimum time frame requirements. Please see our order time guides on our Order Policy page.
Q: How long does it take to receive a price quote?
A: We do our very best to respond to all request quickly. Please be assured that your business is very important to us and we will respond as soon as we can usually the same day or within 24hrs during business days. PLEASE NOTE that not completing your order form correctly will prolong the ordering process.
Q: Do you offer cheaper cakes?
A: Marcia's Confections is not the least expensive or most expensive bakery you will find in the Maryland, Virginia & D.C area. When shopping for a wedding cake (or any item), the adage "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. We will ALWAYS try to accommodate every budget, butMarcia's Confections simply cannot compete with every bakery due to our commitment to the quality of ingredients, and attention to detail in your wedding or special occasion cake. When it comes to wedding cakes, cupcakes and special occasion cakes, Marcia's Confections delivers only the best. We are happy to suggest alternative designs to save on cost. We offer sheet cakes as back-up cakes for your guests.To help lower the cost of wedding & custom cakes.
Q: There is not an address listed. Can I stop by and see your work?
A: Because Marcia's Confections is a private cake studio, all meetings and deliveries must be scheduled by appointment only.
Q: Can we meet in person to discuss my order?
A: Due to our busy schedule, in-person consultations are only available with orders $300 or more at no additional charge. All other orders will be charged a $30 in-person consultation fee which must be paid at the time of consultation. Consultations via phone or email are free and available during our business hours.
Q: How do I schedule a cake tasting?
A: Cake tastings are available with orders $350 or more at no additional charge. You may choose up to three cake flavors and three icing flavors. Additional flavors may also be requested for $10 each. Prompt arrival at the cake tasting is necessary and you can bring up to two guests. Cake tasting sessions are only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Q: Why are your decorated cakes priced by the serving?
A: All of our cakes are made entirely from scratch using the finest, all-natural ingredients. No mixes. No artificial ingredients. No preservatives. No short cuts. Each and every cake is carefully mixed and baked to create the finest cake you have ever tasted. Since every cake is custom-designed and created, we are not able to offer a set price list. Factors that influence the cost of your cake include number of servings, flavor & filling choices, and the complexity of the design.

We invite you to compare our prices to other custom bakeries. Our desserts are made no more than one day before your event, from scratch! We do not use prE-made desserts shipped to us frozen like most supermarkets. Our fillings and frostings are also made from scratch using the freshest ingredients.
